About This Item
Philadelphia: E. H. Butler & Co., 1865. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover, elaborately embossed green cloth with gold lettering and churchyard grave motif in gold on front cover. All edges gilt. 120 pages. Illustrated with engraved frontispiece and title-page, with 3 additional engraved plates. Reprint, originally published in 1858 by this publisher, albeit the first in this more elaborate publisher's binding. Private New Year gift inscription on first blank leaf after brown coated end-paper. Very mild rubbing to cloth and some slight wear to tips, but overall a nice example of mid-Victorian decorative binding. Interior text and illustrations clean and not foxed. Very good. .
