First English edition. From the collection of award-winning children's book artist Charles Mikolaycak. A wonderful set of Polish fairy tales collected by A.J. Glinksi (Poland's master folklore writer, and his nation's equivalent of the Brothers Grimm) who spent many years in the mid-nineteenth century travelling all over his nation's lands, listening to and writing down the stories as told to him by the ordinary folk. Translated into English and featuring stunning color plates by the Scottish Symbolist painter, illustrator and sculptor Cecile Walton, this collection wonderfully captures the wide-ranging oral tradition of the eastern provinces of Poland.
