Hamish Hamilton, London, 1977. Reprint. Hardcover. Good Condition/Poor. Illustrator: Michael Heslop – Cover Art. Blue coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper, by Michael Heslop, with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The Third in the Tripod Trilogy – where humankind make a desperate bid to destroy the tripods and their overlords. Softening of the back strip edges along with some fading with nasty bumping to the book corners. Slight cocking of the spine with some fading and marking of the book panels. Age toning and foxing to the text block edges and pages. Offset tanning, handling marks and browning to the end pages with gift inscription to the top edge of the free front end page. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Some faint staining of the first few and last few pages of the book. The dustwrapper is in execrable condition! – Please see photograph. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges with some pieces missing. Piece missing to the top left-hand corner of the front panel with associated creasing. Some small nicks and chips to the top dust wrapper edge. The rear panel has a very large V piece is missing from the lower right-hand corner of the panel – with associated creasing and extending tear with a arcing tear of 5 inches to the top right hand corner of the same panel, again with associated creasing – please see photograph. Sunning, rubbing and handling marks are also present and there are some foxing spots to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [7], 8 - 156 pages.. Dust Jacket price-clipped.
