London: Macmillan and Co., 1883. First edition, first issue in primary binding of blue-green smooth cloth with "JAMES" in uniform letters on spine. 1,000 copies. Precedes the American edition. Light scattered foxing, boards rubbed on corners and a few light spots, back hinge starting to crack, small thin strip of cloth tape on copyright page and front endpaper (covering something?), otherwise very good.
