Old tidelines, particularly on title page, and overall toning to text. Upper right corners curled and some chipping to edges of last page not affecting text. EVANS 18214. ESTC W27788. Townsend a block maker who had once been a member of the Old South Meeting House in Boston, became a Sandemanian, a sect which preached loyalty to the King. This put him in conflict with the prevailing political sentiments in New England at the time of the American Revolution. He later became a Universalist.
