NO margin notes. "First Edition" is so stated. All four authors were part of the Institute for Sex Research, Inc., founded by Alfred C. Kinsey. Dr. Gebhard was the Institute's Executive Director. The surveys evaluated here were conducted when abortion was illegal. They are based on detailed interviews with some 7000 women. This scholarly study looks at many aspects of pregnancy, birth and abortion, including statistics on how many became pregnant before marriage, during marriage, or while separated, divorced or widowed, and how the pregnancies ended -- whether in live birth, in spontaneous abortion/miscarriage or induced abortion. There are sections on the single woman, the married woman, the Negro woman, the prison woman, etc. Includes an appendix with "notes on abortion problems in other countries." Bibliography. Tables.
