Spine and edges rather sunned, with small chips at head of spine; mild age toning and bit of occasional foxing. Tight, nice first edition of this early census (Executive Document Number 116, 37th Congress, 2nd Session). Front pastedown bears the handsome diecut small bookplate of James Dumars (b. 1823), a Springfield, Missouri newspaper journalist and editor, and also the nice late 19th century bookplate of Drury College Library of Springfield, Missouri (but no other library markings). A handsome copy of this goldmine of primary data.
