Biography of the American tenor saxophonist, Lester Young, known for his light relaxed playing tone. He rose to prominence with Count Basie and had a close friendship with Billie Holiday with whom he made several highlight recordings. In later life heavy drinking impaired his creativity and he died at the relatively young age of 49 from alcoholism and malnutrition.. Soft Cover.
