The story of Mount Vernon during the Civil War period, just after it had been purchased from John Washington by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. The story is told mostly through the letters of Sarah Tracy, secretary to the first Regent of the Association. Tracy was living at Mount Vernon during this time and helping with the upkeep and what restoration could be done during the war. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good(-). 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
