First Issue Only good in the publisher's original green cloth covered boards with gilt text and black designs on the spine and the same on the front board. An octavo of 8 3/8 by 6 1/2 inches with the cloth at the head and heel of the spine very heavily worn down to the edges of the text block, the cloth over the tips of the boards worn through and several signatures are coming loose from the sewing. The first free end page has the partial name of a former owner in pencil. There is an early, dated "Dec. 25th 1882" gift inscription on the first free end page in ink. The typographical errors on pages 124, 263 and 362 have not been corrected. Because of the wear to the cloth over the spine we are not able to identify the binding state per BAL 3402. 411 pages of text with 192 illustrations in the text.
