About This Item

(Northampton, MA: Pennyroyal Press, 1974. Chamberlain, Sarah. Folio. (8)ff. One of forty copies signed by the artist, Sarah Chamberlain. Contains five tipped-in original etchings illustrating this amusing tale. According to Barry Moser, Chamberlain was a student at Hampshire College at the time, and while taking a figure drawing class with him became fascinated with Moser's letterpress shop, where she printed this work, and another book the following year entitled "Riddles." This is, in all likelihood, Chamberlain's first book, in addition to being a previously unacknowledged title in the Pennyroyal Press canon. In original pale blue wrappers with ribbon ties and letterpress title label on front cover. Mild creasing to corners, else a fine copy.
