Dent, 1927. New edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: Thomas Derrick. With an introduction by John Masefield. Volumes I to VIII were published as an eight volume set in 1927. Volumes IX and X were added in 1928 and are titled 'The Voyages Traffiques & Discoveries of Foreign Voyagers, with other matters relating thereto contained in the 'Navigations' by Richard Hakluyt'. A clean, tight, sound and presentable set. Some scattered spotting/foxing but mainly confined to the first and last leaves in each volume. Spines are good but there is the usual fading/dulling of the gilt decoration. The gilt work on vols. IX and X, which were issued later ( see above ) is bright and fresh. Around 4500 pages in the 10 vol. set - full collation on request. Illustrated with 64 drawings by Derrick and many reproductions from contemporary portraits engravings etc. Maps on endpapers. An index to the entire 10 vols. is at the rear of vol. X. Approx. size of one volume is 8" by 5". Shelf space for the set is 15.5". Heavy item - overseas customers please enquire re shipping costs.
