These two volumes are intact with joints holding, but with very worn bindings with a few spots of stain to covers, bumped corners rubbed through to the boards, splits at the joints down the spines, ragged spine ends, the interior is heavily foxed, edges browned, with signatures just beginning to loosen, rear endpaper in v.1 is loose, small address label on front pastedowns of both volumes, a reading copy only of this hard to find edition. First American from the Fifth and last London Edition. Complete in two volumes, includes all four volumes of the fifth London edition. v.1: 546pp., v.2: 553pp., 62 woodcut illustrations across the 2 vols.
