Bound in contemporary acid-leather boards, rebacked with modern leather spine. xxxviii, 421, [3]; vi, 480 pages; 21 cm. Bowdoin Library stamp. Paley is best known for his arguments for the existence of God and his "Watchmaker analogy." In this work Paley deals with the fundamental issues of political science of the enlightenment era. Paley includes an interesting section on Slavery, where he states it is fundamentally wrong and should be abolished. Paley's work was a standard text in ethics throughout Britain and America.
