Australian National University Press, Canberra, 1966. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Photographic & Illustrations. Acknowledgements, list of abbreviations, references, selected bibliography and index. Colour photographic frontispiece, showing a stain glass monogram (taken from the Book of Kells), given as a gift to the Public Library of New South Wales, by various printing unions, to celebrate 500th anniversary of Gutenberg's invention of movable metal types. The text is illustrated with black-and-white photographs stop light blue coloured cloth covered boards with small gilt coloured embossed illustration to the lower right-hand corner of the front panel; and, gilt coloured titles to the back strip. As issued plain glassine dustwrapper. The title says it all. A little flecking across the top edge of the front panel with softening of the back strip rubbing of the book corners and back strip corners. Light age toning of the text block edges and pages. The as issued glassine cover has a small tear to the top left hand corner of the front panel which a previous owner had supported with tape  the tape has left residue.
