London: J. Watts, 1730. Sir John Vanbrugh (1664-1726) was both a popular dramatist and a famed architect (od Blenheim Palace). This play was unfinished at his death and was completed by the actor/manager Colley Cibber. This is a Near Fine copy of an early printing from three years after its completion and performance. Assumed to be the Third Edition, as there were printings in both 1728 and 1729. Scarce.Disbound; this is the text only, with remnants of a leather binding to be seen on the spine. Dedication to the Queen; "To the Reader" by Cibber (1727); Prologue; Cast List; then pages numbered 279-388. Bright and clear, a bit of toning at the margins. An important author in the hisrtory of the British thetre, awaiting a lovely rebind.. Early Printing. Disbound. Near Fine/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
