About This Item

Washington DC U.S. Government Printing Office, 1962-1966. Hardcover Volumes One (1945) and Two (1946) INSCRIBED "Kindest Regards to Hon. Rufus Burrus" and SIGNED "Harry Truman" BY THE AUTHOR dated 5/23/63 on the half title page. Volume Three (1947) and Volume Four (1948) also INSCRIBED "Kindest Regards to Hon. Rufus Burrus" and SIGNED "Harry Truman" BY THE AUTHOR and dated 4/6/66. Volume Seven (1951) is also INSCRIBED "Kindest Regards to Hon. Rufus Burrus" and SIGNED "Harry Truman" BY THE AUTHOR and dated 3/31/66. Volumes Five, Six, and Eight are not inscribed or signed. Overall, Near Fine: shows only the mildest wear to the extremities. The bindings are square and secure; the texts clean. Very close to 'As New'. However, Volume One (1945) shows dampstaining to the lower outside quadrant of the front panel, which has imposed a very slight bow at the corner and a faint waviness to the lower corner of the first few text pages (but no overt dampstains). Volume Two (1946) shows mild rubbing near the head and heel of the backstrip. Volume Six (1950) shows some faint indentations to the outside margins (not apparent from the fore-edge), some pencil notations at the upper corner of the rear free endpaper, and a faint crease - or buckle - to the cloth of the backstrip. Volume Eight (1952-53) shows some mild rubbing to the blue background field of the title band. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome, like-new copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing no discernible flaws. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. But for the noted flaws, Virtually 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 4to. (10 x 7.25 x 15.75 inches). xxxi, 668 pages; xxxi, 581 pages; xxxi, 613 pages; xxxiii, 1079 pages; xxxiii, 671 pages; xxxvii, 866 pages; xxxviii, 749 pages; xlii, 1334 pages. All volumes with duotone frontispiece portraits of Harry S. Truman. Language: English. Weight 26 pounds, 5.5 ounces. All volumes Grey cloth over boards with gilt titles on a blue band at the backstrip. Hardback: No DJ 'as issued'. This is a large, heavy set; Priority or International orders expect additional shipping costs. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.
