About This Item

London: Methuen & Co., 1952. First Edition. Cloth. Good/poor. xii, 258p. Pages 128-131 toned from a stored newspaper clipping and endpapers toned with bookplate on front endpaper, tattered jacket taped on folds. When Irish actor Mac Liammóir agreed to play Iago in Orson Welles's motion picture adaptation of Othello, "he found himself caught up in a hurricane of talk, plans, travel, emotion," and the constant shortage of funds. This diary of the turmoil is "essentially a theatrical work - flashing, sensitive, superficial, with a sharp ear for dialogue and a quick eye for effect and character," all told with a quick wit. [The Observer, September 7, 1952] 7 b&w photo plates and frontispiece. (7-1/2"x5-1/4")
