Cloth lightly rubbed, else a very good copy. HOWES C-689. Presentation inscription on front free endpaper, "To my friend, J. S. McDaniels, Esq., William E. Connelley. Topeka, Kansas April 12, 1910. For John." Laid in is a 2-pp. typed letter from Connelly to McDaniels dated 22 Dec. 1901 expressing deep friendship. "A general account of border warfare in which Quantrill was so prominent; probably the best study on the subject" Nevins II, p. 146.
