About This Item

New York: Vantage Press, 1970. First edition. 8vo, 105pp. Publisher's blue cloth, spine stamped in black, illustrated dust jacket. Bookstore ticket to rear pastedown, single mark to margin of contents page, modest wear to boards else nearly fine in like jacket which shows wear at spine ends and some toning.

Science fiction novella in which two Quasarians from a remote celestial body travel to earth and learn of "the organized harmony that underlies all instances of natural life," which is lacking in their own environment.

Charles Burnell Olds (1872-1971) was active in Japanese missionary work before taking up writing.  He formed a study group in Japan of Christian ministers and Buddhist and Shinto priests.  This idea of merging Eastern and Western thought and religion are on display in his writings, including this, his only work in the genre of science fiction.  Uncommon.
