Half bound red leather with marbled boards, gilt spine titles, marbled endpapers. Light edge wear and rubbing; light toning of pages. There are no tears or folds. Both volumes have a round 1cm book dealer's sticker top of pastedown and a neatly inked name on half title; no other markings or tears. Binding is tight and hinges are strong. 201 +4 and 271 pages. Quatrevingt-Treize (Ninety-Three) is the last novel by the Victor Hugo published in 1874, shortly after the bloody upheaval of the Paris Commune. The novel concerns the Revolt in the Vendee and Chouannerie - the counter-revolutionary revolts in 1793 during the French Revolution. It is divided into three parts; each part tells a different story, offering a different view of historical general events. The action mainly takes place in Brittany and in Paris. This complete 2 volume set contains all 3 parts.
