New York: Putnams, 1852. First edition. Hardcover. Very good condition. Novel of a beautiful orphan's life, set mostly in Queechy Vermont, written by Susan Warner of Cold Spring NY. Constitution Island is the site of the Warner House, where the writers Anna and Susan Warner, lived. Anna Warner is known for the hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' written in 1860. The sisters donated Constitution Island to West Point in 1908, and taught Bible classes to West Point cadets for forty years.

Publishers advertisements at end papers with first volume advertising Queechy and the 16th edition of Wide Wide World. Both volumes have the pencil signature of thir original owner Mrs Stephen Sanford, August 1852.
