Splendidly illustrated throughout with b/w illustrations by Jessie B. Robinson, a published illustrator of children's books, the story of Purim* is here related in two parts:
The first is based on the Biblical Book of "Esther" and is designed for reading at Purim assemblies in schools. The second part is the Purim Megillah in legend (the characters and the plot) and is based on Louis Ginzberg's "Legends of the Jews" and on original sources of the Talmud.
Wrappers sunned along spine, and partly age-toned along edges. Tail of spine chipped. Sporadic soiling and minor discoloration to front cover. Back cover slightly foxed. Wrappers in overall good-, interior in very good condition. * Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, who was planning to kill all the Jews. This took place in the ancient Persian Empire, and the story is recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther.
