319pp. Colour frontispiece by Cyrus Cuneo. Some rubbing to spine, with early splitting to cloth covering at edge, and missing front endpaper, with weakening of front and rear joints.

An African adventure based on Biblical royalty, previously serialised in Nash's Magazine. Haggard originally wanted to use the title Maqueda, but was persuaded to adopt this title by Eveleigh Nash. 7600 domestic copies were printed on the 10 September 1910 with the Nash imprint, two days after the U. S. edition.
