About This Item
- 847 pp. - cviii (des Mariages Clandestins) - 18 ff., contemporary full brown calf (little split on 15 cm (5.9 inch.) on the upper part of the first joint, some lacks of leather on the upper spine-end, wears on corners), spine raised on 6 bands, 5 compartments gilt tooled, 1 compartment gilt lettered, sprinkled edges.Third and one of best editions of this quite rare treatise of the lawyer and President of the fifth investigations room of the Parliament of Paris, Claude Prestre (1611 - Etaples-sur-Mer 1694). In the 'Questions notables de Droit', the jurisconsult studies the problems arising by the succession of Louis X, deceased in 1316 without male descent, with a girl suspected of illegitimacy, Jeanne de Navarre, and a child to be born, the future Jean Ist 'The first edition has no price, not only because of the additions that one finds in the second edition, but also because the erros found by Gueret in Le Prestre, and corrected' (Camus, 1318). Enriched by a title page printed in red and black, by a large portrait of the author placed as frontispiece, by title device, ornemental engraved letters and by head and tail pieces. Nice copy.

About Minet
The current bookstore has its origins in the one that existed in the 80s in Redu, a small village in the Ardennes. It is there, in a charming manor house, Dirk Minet had his bookbinding workshop and his bookstore.
In the early 90s, he moved to Brussels and with the collaboration of his brother Bernard created a place even more conducive to the passion for old books that motivated them both. After seven years, Bernard leaves and Dirk alone presides over the destiny of the Minet-frères bookshop.
In April 1996 opening of the first website of the bookstore with the URL address http://www.librairie-minet-frères.
In June 1997, the site was completely renovated and changed address.
Today the books have found their setting in a splendid 19th century mansion.
Accessible by appointment only.
