Handwritten quote from Thomas Carlyle's work "From Hero As Poet" on a 3+15/16" (width) x 2+7/16" (height) card, dated 1906. Entirely handwritten by Meynell and signed by her "All Deep things are Song [signed] Alice Meynell." Minor smudging to first part of quote. Previously mounted on dark paper, with minor adhesive and paper remnants on back of thick cardstock. English poetess and novelist, who spent most of her youth in Italy. She converted to Roman Catholicism in 1872, and wrote much on religious subjects. Poetry. Suitable for framing..
