Wraps mildly rubbed at extremities with slight curling along fore-edge. Binding sound. Gift inscription to front free endpaper, but otherwise pages unmarked.

Text begins with "Chapter II," as published, the first chapter having been torn and destroyed. This text is from the revised Second Edition published posthumously by Plummer's father, James Parker in 1844.
