London: T Fisher Unwin, 1896. . Original wraps. Fair. 200p 12mo. A rough copy in original wraps. Possibly a proof. Chipped on front and rear covers. Sarmento has written on the half title "The proofs of this book were never corrected hence the absurd errors. The two first chaps. were written by H. V. the rest by myself". Vacaresco (1864-1947) was a Romanian-French aristocrat writer of poetry, fiction,theatre and her memoirs. Her failure at gaining stature in the Romanian monarchy caused her to be exiled to France in 1889. She was a delegate on and off to the League of Nations from 1921- 1938 being the only woman to serve with the rank of ambassador (permanent delegate) in the history of the League of Nations. Front cover of wrapper is detached. 1 copy in oclc for this edition
