About This Item
London: Grant Richards, 1918. Hardcover. Good/Good. Terrific example of the Fourth printing of Tressall's important political novel, published in 1914, three years after his death. Written as the seeds of socialism were beginning to take root in Britain and Labour MPs were first elected to parliament, The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists presents a detailed and critical view of social and economic life in pre war Britain. 12mo. 235pp. Black cloth boards with red titiling. Dust jacked is carefully preserved in plastic slip over archival paper, with some slight loss to top and bottom of spine. Page edges are tanned but binding is tight and square and contents are clean. Rare in this condition with a handsome dust-jacket design. Overall good/very good condition.
