Interior hinges are sound and not split. 296 pp 8vo. In this book, the author presents an intimate and inside look at American railroads. His story is told from the his personal point of view as he takes the reader to the actual cabs of the powerful engines that move the freights and streamliners. All phases of railroad activity are present here, from the duties of the solitary trackwalker to the ar-splitting din of the roundhouses. Written in railroad language this book is written so the reader can imagine he/she is riding in the locomotive cab and experiencing high-speed railroading on any of the modern streamliners like the Hiawatha, The Santa Fe Chief, or the Twentieth Century. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket. Laid-in is a business card from an ATSF employee from the 1940s.
