About This Item
New York: Boni and Liveright, 1923. First edition. Endsheets toned; spine label mottled from jacket, else fine in a price-clipped dust jacket with a spot of abrasion on the spine that has affected the last letter of the title and a number of neatly tape-mended tears, still quite handsome.. 8vo, 236pp; blue cloth with printed spine label. An attractive copy, despite the stated flaws, highly uncommon in jacket. A popular play, "Rain" was adapted for cinema three times, most notably in Lewis Milestone's 1932 film starring Joan Crawford and Walter Huston. An earlier silent version starred Gloria Swanson and a 1953 remake featured Rita Hayworth.
