First Edition.. Clean decorated American Trade Binding, first edition. Reddish brown cloth boards with blue, yellow, black and white decoration on cover (soldier holding the reins of a white horse). Quite clean, with a little wear to cloth at bottom spine corners. Vignette on cover is vivid - very little wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Pages are clean with clean endpapers - no names or bookplates; gilt top page edges. With 16 Illustrations by Frederic Remington, Walter Appleton Clark, Howard Chandler Christy, E.M. Ashe, and F. Dorr Steele; frontispiece by Frederic Remington with clean tissue guard. 345pages..
