SIGNED by the Master Photographer on the title page, oblong 8vo (7 1/4" x 10 3/8" x 7/8"), black cloth with "vanishing" black-on-black incused title on spine, archival polyester-protected photographic dust jacket (unclipped) depicting an endangered red wolf, Foreword by Joel Sartore, filled with ~ 80 glossy color photos of endangered critters (and facing descriptions--many by Nat Geo writer Verlyn Klinkenborg) taken--usually with great effort--by this National Geographic master photographer, N.P. [~160] pages. Weight: 10.6 oz. Very Fine or "As New" SIGNED copy with astonishing color photographs and accompanying texts. Tight, bright, immaculate copy with glossy color images. Comparably VF unclipped glossy dust jacket with photos front and rear.

Renowned National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore has devoted years to creating these magnificent photographs and documenting the more than 1,200 endangered species around the world. Here are 80 iconic images: some taken in the wild; others from difficult to handle stages (often made necessary because of the inherent difficulties of shooting such rare creatures and costs).

Those who have enjoyed Joel on Amazon Prime may have seen cute, clever, and ornery critters humorous outwit the astute photog! Some of these extraordinary images were previously published in "National Geographic Magazine" in January 2009. Each of these iconic creatures is an exquisite work of art.

Sartore has done a vast number of projects for National Geographic for more than 20 years. He has published several books and previously created National Geographic's "The Company We Keep: America's Endangered Species" (1996). He is a co-founder of the Grassland Foundation, and a founding member of the International League of Conservation Photographers. Joel has dedicated himself to recording our vanishing heritage of such splendid and important creatures.
