"Mr. Underwood, from the Select Committee, to whom the subject had been referred, made the following Report: The Select Committee, to whom was referred the memorial of Samuel Raub, jun., praying for the passage of such an act as will ensure the application of his recently invested 'double self-acting safety-valves' to all steamvessels in the employ of the Government, and also remuneration for the same; and subsequently instructed by a resolution of the House, to inquire whether the act entitled 'An act to provide for the better security of the lives of passengers on board of vessels propelled in whole, or in part by steam,' approved July 7, 1838, needs amendment, report:..." 34 pp. Disbound government document.
