About This Item
79 pages; duplicated and brad-bound; titled, “Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand/ Novel to be published by Random House, October, 1957/ Reader: Barbara Branden.” Rubber stamped twice “Jul 19 1957” and “Jul 22 1957.” The reader was one of the author’s closest associates, involving an unusual personal relationship. Clearly, she must have been one of few with access to the completed novel. We have been reliably informed by an associate of the publisher that initial sales were slower than expected. Of course, this picked up considerably. The purpose of this detailed summary is not indicated, but was likely intended to secure further publication or dramatization rights. In excellent condition.
