About This Item

New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1956. First American Edition . Hardcover in Dust Jacket. Very Good. Based on the diaries and letters of five relatives in the 43rd North Carolina. They fought at Big Bethel, Virginia (the first battle after Fort Sumter), and two survived to surrender at Appomattox. A fair copy, with slightly torn covered dust jacket , corners and spine head very slightly bumped, binding tight, contents clean (317 pages, 4 facsimiles, notes, bibliography, index, map endpapers).
