New York: G. P. Putnam, 1862. Paperback. Very Good. 56 p., frontispiece portrait of Maj. Gen. Daniel Butterfield; 25 cm. Beige wrapper with illustration by Richardson. Wrapper title. Frontispiece portrait engraved by A. H. Ritchie. Back wrapper contains advertisement for Heroes and Martyrs edited by Frank Moore. This number of Frank Moore's record of the American Civil War, issued during the conflict, contains reports of events in the fall of 1862 beginning with the invasion of Pennsylvania and includes the execution Porter's guerrillas in Palmyra, Missouri, and a fight on the Osage River involving the First Regiment Kansas Colored Volunteers. Former owner's name stamped on blank side of frontispiece: A. L. Fluke. In Very Good Condition: wrapper is lightly soiled; minor loss at wrapper corners and edges; pages and plate are clean and solid.
