Contents age toned and occasionally spotted, especially the title-page, with also just a couple of very small King's Inn library stamps. Size: 8vo. Collation: pp. [2], 233, complete with 2 engraved plates. Bound with a second work by Achille Richard published in 1825: Nouveaux Elements de Botanique et de Physiologie Vegetale (pp. xxiv, 519, complete with 8 engraved plates). Thus 2 titles in 1 book. Note, the first work by Dutrochet is a very scarce landmark study: "Dutrochet asserted that respiration follows the same pattern in both animals and plants, showing that the minute openings on the surface of leaves (the stomata) communicate with lacunae in deeper tissue.
