About This Item

PARIS: CHEZ PIERRE FRANC DIDOT LE JEUNE, 1767. In 16. Dim. 17x10,5 cm. Pp. (6)+X+(2)+227+(1)+(4)+X+(8)+228. Collazionato e completo. Raro, solo tre copie censite su ICCU. In discrete condizioni. Interesting collection of two works by Theophile de Bordeu (1722-1776) physician at Royal Infirmary in Versailles and of Contessa du Barry, great friend of Diderot. The first one is the original edition of one of the most important work in the field of cell history. Beuret describes connective tissues under the name of mucous tissue showing its role in exchanges, phenomena of nutrition and mechanical balance of organs and tissues. The work follows his earlier researches about chronical deseases (1775) in which shows the idea of internal secretion with the hypothesis that each organ, tissue and cell discharges in blood products that influence other parts of the body. The second one is a lesser study, the influence of waters of Bareges and mercury in gland cancer. Collationed and complete. Scarce, only three copy in ICCU. In fair conditions. Full leather coeval cover with five nerfs and golden title and decorations in the spine in fair general conditions with wearings and missing parts in the edges and spine. Binding in fair conditions with some cracks. Inside pages are in good conditions with foxings. Humidity stain in the lower edge.
