Top edge gilt and fore-edge slightly aged. Clean, crisp and bright with only light reading wear, no marks to text. VG.* Illustrations: Single b/w photo to frontis.* Pages: 478 pp. text. iii pp. booklist & blank pages at rear.* Description: Sir Algernon West was an English civil servant. He acted as Principal Private Secretary to Prime Minister William Gladstone. He was much decorated and held a number of prestigious posts which gave him access to the great and the good of his age. These recollections are extremely interesting and give much information about the Victorian age.* A NEAR VG+ text copy with some minor faults and no dust jacket.*
