Greece; Turkey; Italy; Color Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; xv, [i], 304; viii, 277, [6] pages; Both half title pages are present, and a page of corrigenda for both vols faces the first page of text. Lacks the hand-colored frontispieces to both volumes, but the other hand-colored plates and a facsimile of a document are present in Vol. I. Broadsides mounted on both rear inside covers. Re: The Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society, which was founded in 1797 in Norwich, England. Likewise a small advertising broadside is mounted on both inside front covers, for Godwin's Bath Writing Paper Warehouse in England. All 4 broadsides have been pasted over with later but still old thin paper endpapers at front and rear, making them difficult to read. The front broadside in Vol. I has been uncovered to make it more legible. Both volumes are bound in period 1/2 brown leather w/ marbled boards, Ink ownership on ffeps. , front Boardd. Detachedbut present on Vols I & I. Bindings worn, chipped & surfaces rubbed. Contents tight w/ some scattered soil and foxing Some underscoring and marginalia in Vol. I. Starting from Venice, Laurent visited Chios, Constantinople, Athens, the Peloponnese, and Corfu. The appendix consists of the Constitution of the Ionian Islands.
