Very clean attractive well cared for book with white pages and few defects. Front hinge is weak but pages are bound tightly. No marks, stamps or names. Maroon unfaded cloth with bright gold spine lettering. Ffront cover decorated with embossed Doran Company logo. Minor edge wear to unbumped corners. Illustrated with black and white photos. An autobiography of the United States Minister to Denmark. Son of an Irish immigrant Egan was born in Philadelphia and appointed to his Denmark post by President Roosevelt in 1907. He remained in office under Presidents Taft and Wilson. He is the author of Ten Years Near the German Frontier. Described as a delectable book, wise, witty, and whimisical dealing with great affairs and small happenings freely and frankly. Introduction by Henry van Dyke. Frontispiece portrait of the author made after his return from Denmark.
