Fortin, Masson et C.ie, Paris, 1841. First Edition. Hardback. Very Good/No Jacket. First and only Edition Paris 1841. Complete with 40 hand coloured engraved plates with over 1000 shell species, originally catalogued by Lamarck in his Histoire Naturelle, but without illustration. 48.5 x 34 cms Folio. Half title, Text leaves Intermittent light to moderate spotting, more so in the preliminaries, and a few others toned, approximately half the plates are toned and a few neatly re-strengthened with tape to gutter, a few are lightly spotted, with a few more spotted to verso only. Bound in later three quarter green morocco, leather rubbed and browned to spine.
