A Cologne: Jean du Castel, 1664. 297pp. Contemporary red half-morocco, red melange paper boards, A.E.G. A trifle rubbed, marking to boards. Marbled endpapers, recent bookplate of Robert J. Hayhurst to FEP, internally clean and crisp. A compilation of fives miscellaneous pieces by statesman Henri-Auguste de Lomenie, comte de Brienne (1594-1666) relating to contemporary French history, including an analysis of the causes of the Thirty Years' War, and an inquiry into the subsequent peace negotiations with Spain. The imprint on this edition is fictitious; two editions were printed in the same year, both bearing the same imprint, though this edition was in fact printed by Foppens. . 12mo.
