Edges of title page are age-toned. Book plate re-mounted on inside front cover belonging to Clements C. Fry, M.D. (1892-1955) Professor of Psychiatry at Yale and a well known collector of medical prints. Bound in full modern calf done after an early style. Old spine label is preserved. John Haslam (1764-1844) was an Apothecary or Medical Officer at Bethlem Hospital (Bedlam) and afterwards the Governor of St. Luke's Hospital. Haslam was one of the most knowledgeable practitioners in his field. However, according to Hunter and Macaplpine his attitudes toward patients were rather "harsh and unfeeling." In 1816 scandals arose over poor patient care at Bethlem Hospital and Haslam was dismissed from his position (perhaps unfairly). The "Observations on Madness" was first published in 1798. United States: Red Cross, 1919. Poster. (36 x 19cm) Color printed on one side. Red graphic cross on white background with double blue border. Type in like blue. Verso blank. Some toning to white background, minor edgewear and minor foxing. Small pinhole to center blue stripe. Very Good overall. The Red Cross on a Field of White

When this Red Cross Service Flag was originally printed in 1919, the world was in the middle of a two-year, worldwide pandemic which would result in the deaths of millions of people. Signal flags like this one were only for use by the members of the Red Cross. This paper Red Cross symbol was to be displayed in the front window of a member of the organization, for the benefit of a seeker of aid and was printed on thin paper to allow light from a home's interior at night to shine through. Thousands of Red Cross nurses had been at the frontlines of World War I only to return home to the trenches of the "Spanish Flu". The graphic red cross is borderd by two blue stripes, symbolizing the American Red Cross's second year of being of military service in the First World War. Inherently fragile, this symbol of bravery and endurance has nonetheless survived. The OCLC lists only one other copy.

Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania: Emerson, Smith & Co.. Very Good. Broadside. Broadside printed on Japanese paper and dated to the late 19th century. Broadside has rough edges and was folded multiple times. Broadside has many creases likely due to the statement printed in the upper left corner: "This is genuine Japanese paper. Press the sheet up into a ball, then straighten it out, and you will observe that it possesses remarkable properties, and a careful examination will interest you." Broadside has light toning, overall very good. Also included is a 8" x 10 ½" ordering form that has heavy toning and has been folded multiple times. This broadside promotes the double cross-cut narrow blade saw which was patented in 1883 by Emerson, Smith & Co., saw manufacturers. The broadside is likely dated to around 1887 as the proprietors note their 1887 hand book for saw prices. As of April 2022 one copy found at the Hagley Museum & Library in Delaware. ; 19" x…

"In this book, real life photos are used to help young people feel more comfortable with interacting with other children and making new friends. A Note From Fred Rogers: A child's first visit with a pediatrician usually comes soon after birth. It may be months or even years later, though, that a child first shows fear about going to see a doctor. The worry of an injection or some other unfamiliar medical procedure can trigger that fear. It can also appear because another family member may be feeling medical anxieties.
