Lacking original end papers,and title page. Professionally repair to chipping loss to head of pages near spine throughout. Lacking all plates, only the praying Muslim engravings remain. Of these engravings, 7 of the 8 were handcolored at a more recent time. Blackmer 740; Contominas 306; Weber 2:369; Atabey 527; Brunet II, 1733<br><br> An extremely informative travel narrative, Grelot's vision of Constantinople is conveyed through text and detailed, hand-colored illustrations. This volume describes local customs and provides a brief history of the area. Grelot, a prolific French artist and traveller, dedicated this particular volume to Louis XIV of France.
