Original paper-covered boards with brown cloth spine and printed paper spine label. 226pp -- uncut -- followed by 24pp of publisher's ads. Sabin 57946. Howes O157. Ouseley was a British diplomatic attache to the United States from 1825 to 1832. With the help of Washington Irving, he published his survey of American political, economic and religious institutions in both the UK and US. In general, he gave America a highly favorable review. Boards rubbed and worn. Head of spine has one small chip. Internal text has occasional foxing and dampstains, but is generally clean.
