Illustrated with a frontispiece, a vignette illustration to the title page and the preface, as well as further black-and-white plates. In full calf binding signed AB Schofield.Memoir by Sir John E. Eardley-Wilmot, Bart. dedicated to the life of a famous landowner and sportsman, known for playing an important role in the development of the Welsh slate industry, and for his involvement in cricket.Sir John E. Eardley-Wilmot was a politician and judge, member of parliament for South Warwickshire. Previous owner's ink inscription to recto front blank leaf dated 186 'Archibald M Sandback with the best wishes of his friend Robert Staples on his leaving Eton.'  In full calf binding with five raised bands, gilt tooling to spine, titles in gilt to morocco spine label, marbled edges and endpapers. Externally with shelf wear, rubbed to joints and back strip, particularly to spine label. Internally, firmly bound. Light faint minor spotting to first and last few leaves, pages otherwise bright and clean throughout. Good
