Sao Paulo: Livraria Martins, 1940. First edition thus (hardback). 8vo (25cm x 18cm), viii, 315pp. Text illustrations. Rebound in quarter brown calf, marbled boards, contrasting morocco title labels to the spine with gilt titling, marbled endpapers. Edges of binding rubbed and lightly scuffed, bookplate to the front pastedown, scattered foxing of the contents. Overall, this copy is in good condition. Number 1704 of a limited edition (the total number of copies is unspecified). Originally published in London in 1845 under the title "Sketches of Residence and Travels in Brazil", this edition is translated into Portuguese.
