About This Item
Washington: Government Printing Office, 1871 Bound or rebound in hardcover in the 1960s, perhaps; blue 'elephant hide' with paper label. Light general wear, dent on one bottom edge, pages tanned, pencil underlining and annotation, minor foxing, small hole in page1/2. V, 297 pages, folding map. In 1870, Baez and the republic of San Domingo wished to be united with the United States; President Grant agreed, but the Senate declined the treaty prepared. Includes the commission's official report, reports made to the commission, some recent history and documents exchanged between Baez and others; testimony regarding Cabral, Baez, and annexation from various citizens. Frederick Douglass served as assistant secretary to the commission.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 6" by 9¼".
